Platform Under Iron

Heavy steel on cold tracks slowing down
Yellow lines painted sharp across the ground
Nobody moved when the sliding doors opened wide
We stood together holding what was inside

Steam rolls thick through the yellow overhead
Not a single word that needed to be said
Every face in our circle locked in place
Watching shadows vanish from the space

You stepped straight into the circle we made
Cut clean through the quiet and the shade

Platform under iron and the midnight express
Standing right in front of us in dark linen dress
Every single one of us witnessed the line
Crossing over right on time

The station hummed like an engine turning low
Nobody asked where you were bound to go
Our whole collective standing shoulder tight
Giving up the dark to take the light

You stepped straight into the circle we made
Cut clean through the quiet and the shade

Platform under iron and the midnight express
Standing right in front of us in dark linen dress
Every single one of us witnessed the line
Crossing over right on time

Cold concrete beneath our feet
Where the traveler and the circle meet
Not a stranger anymore
Standing on the open floor

Under iron
Right on time

Platform under iron and the midnight express
Standing right in front of us in dark linen dress
Every single one of us witnessed the line
Crossing over right on time

Right before the crew
Under iron
Right on time
